Ecumenical Study Conference

Mabuhay and welcome to our ecumenical conference to affirm our common prophetic calling as theological and religious educators in the Philippines. After about forty years since the Second Vatican Council, we need to reassess the ecumenical breakthroughs which have been accomplished so far. As part of the Protestant mainline churches in the Philippines we welcome and celebrate with our sisters and brothers in Roman Catholic colleges and universities in this pioneering endeavor of building ecumenical network wherein teaching and research can become a collaborative effort.

Therefore, it is our joy to invite religious educators, faculty and students in theological seminaries, and graduate students in religion to join us in a one-day ecumenical study conference on Ocober 20, 2004. This will be held at Tanghalang Julian Felipe from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, De La Salle University, Dasmarinas, Cavite. Together let us embark on this ecumenical journey as we put into practice the prophetic imperative derived from our biblical heritage. Let us exercise our common calling in response to the challenges of transformation in our churches, institutions, and in the wider society.

Dr. Melanio L. Aoanan, Conference Co-Convenor
Program Associate, United Church of Christ in the Philippines
and Professorial Lecturer, De La Salle University, Manila
